Join us for the launch of the new global CitiesWithNature new Action Platform. Learn how participating cities can publish their nature and biodiversity commitments and progress on the Platform, share their journey with other cities, and use the Platform to generate reports and inform decision making in their own council and community.
Urgent action is needed to halt biodiversity loss and restore ecosystems if the world is to avert the global biodiversity crisis and achieve the vision of living in harmony with nature by 2050. A new global biodiversity framework, with a new set of targets for this decade, will be adopted in Part II of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) conference in Kunming, China in September. This will include a renewed “Plan of action on local and subnational governments”. This Plan of Action encourages cities to use the CitiesWithNature Action Platform to announce their voluntary commitments for contributing to the implementation of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework and national biodiversity strategies and action plans (NBSAPs). Cities are also encouraged to use the Action Platform to track their progress towards achieving their commitments, while national governments are encouraged to include the contributions made by cities in their national reports under the CBD.
This webinar will demonstrate how the Platform works and feature some updates from several cities in preparation for populating the platform.
